On October 01, 2008, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested Cruz Wauldo-Burgos Montoya, 35 years of age, of 438 E. Pamlico Street in Belhaven. Montoya was charged with two counts of Trafficking in Cocaine, two counts of Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Cocaine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Montoya’s arrest stemmed from Investigators making multiple purchases of cocaine from Montoya and executing a search warrant at Montoya’s residence. Investigators and Canine Ronnie found 31 grams of cocaine, digital scales, $1500.00 in US Currency and packaging material. On September 9, 2008, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of fraudulent activity at a local recycling company. The owner of the company reported a female customer had altered sales tickets in order to fraudulently obtain more money that she was entitled to. The Sheriff’s Office began and investigation and conducted several interviews. On October 16, 2008, Investigator Shiflett applied for and obtained warrants charging Felicia Davis Smith, age 34, of Mile Road in Vanceboro, NC with two counts of Obtaining Property by False Pretenses. Smith was arrested on October 28th by the Craven County Sheriff’s Office and turned over to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office. Smith was taken before Magistrate D. On September 2, 2008, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of Breaking and Entering and Larceny at a home on Whichard’s Beach Road in Chocowinity. The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation and conducted several interviews. A computer gaming system was stolen during the break-in. On October 7, 2008, Investigator Wesley Waters applied for and obtained a warrant charging Hollie Grace Taylor, age 18, of Hunters Glen in Washington and Michael Allen Vinroe, age 18, of Clayton Circle in Washington with one felony count each of Felony Breaking and Entering and Larceny After Breaking and Entering. Taylor and Vinroe were arrested on October 08, 2008 and released to the custody of their parents. The gaming system was recovered during the investigation. ![]() On August 23, 2008, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of stolen truck. The truck was later located on Hwy. 92 in Bath, NC. A license plate was also stolen from another vehicle in the victim’s yard. The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation and a suspect was identified. As a result of information obtained during interviews, Investigator Robert Gaskins obtained a warrant charging Kevin Michael Brown, age 17, of Paula Lane in Bath with one count of Felony Larceny of a Motor Vehicle and one count of Misdemeanor Larceny. On October 14, 2008, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office was called to a suspicious fire located at 3500 NC Highway 171 in Washington. The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation, collected evidence, and conducted several interviews with the assistance of the Martin County Sheriff’s Office. On October 15, 2008, Investigator Wesley Waters of the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office applied for and obtained a warrant charging Mark Adam Wells, age 22, of Williams Street in Williamston and James Winder Privette II, age 36, of Stewart Street in Jamesville with one count each of First Degree Arson, Second Degree Burglary, and Larceny After Breaking and Entering. Wells and Privette were also charged with a Felony Breaking and Entering and Larceny after Breaking and Entering by Investigator Brent Council of the Martin County Sheriff’s Office for a break-in that occurred at a marina outside of Williamston. Wells was arrested on October 16, 2008 and held on a $100,000.00 secured bond. Privette is still at large. On October 2, 2008, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a breaking and entering and larceny that occurred at a residence on Magnolia School Road in Washington. A computer gaming system was stolen during the break-in. The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation and identified a suspect by checking local pawn records. As a result of information obtained during the investigation, Investigator Robert Gaskins obtained warrants charging Antonio Guilford, age 21, of Asbury Lane in Washington with one count of Felony Breaking and Entering, one count of Larceny after Breaking and Entering, and one count of Obtaining Property by False Pretense. On October 13, 2008, Guilford turned himself in and was held in the Beaufort County Detention Center on a $3,000.00 secured bond. Items stolen during the break-in were recovered and returned to the owner. |
