On December
19, 2008, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report from the
Washington County Department of Social Services involving a sex offense that
occurred in the Pantego area. The
Sheriff’s Office began an investigation, reviewed evidence and conducted
interviews. On June 22, 2009, Investigator Wesley
Waters applied for and obtained a warrant charging Jurden Braxton Bell Jr., age 68, of Hwy 99 North in Pantego, NC with
one count of Statutory Rape of Person
Who is 13, 14, or 15 Years Old by a Defendant Who is at Least Six Years Older
than the Victim. On June 23, 2009, Bell was arrested by
the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office and held in the Beaufort County Detention

On June 8, 2009, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of Fraud from a business in Washington. The manufacturing business reported that an employee wrote and forged checks through company bank accounts and kept the money. The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation, reviewed evidence, and conducted interviews. On June 19, 2009, Investigator Jim Martin applied for and obtained a warrant charging Lisa Hamilton Boyd, age 45, of VOA Road in Washington, with Embezzlement and Obtaining Property by False Pretenses. Boyd turned herself in on June 19th. She was held in the Beaufort County Detention Center on a $25,000.00 secured bond set by Magistrate Jasper Mills. On June 21st, 2009, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a missing boater in the Pamlico River near the Whichard’s Beach area. The U.S. Coast Guard, Sidney Dive Team, North Carolina Canine Emergency Response Team, and the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office River Patrol Unit responded to the area. Crews searched the area through the evening and overnight hours for the missing boater. On the morning of June 22nd, the U.S. Coast Guard and the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office River Patrol unit resumed the search. At approximately 10:50 am, the U.S. Coast Guard discovered a body in the Pamlico River. The body was transported to the Beaufort County Medical Center where an autopsy is pending. On June 09, 2009, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested Pedro Villalta, 32 years of age, Jesus Baza, 24 years of age, Fermin Burgos, 21 years of age, and Leiby Medrano, 20 years of age. They live at 205 Pineview Drive in Washington. They were charged with Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Their arrest stemmed from Investigators receiving complaints that Villalta and Baza work at the Mayflower in Washington and are selling marijuana while at work. Investigators conducted surveillance and witnessed Villalta sell a quantity of marijuana in the parking lot of the Mayflower. Investigators learned from surveillance that Villalta, Baza, Medrano and Burgos live together at 205 Pineview Drive. Investigators conducted a vehicle stop on Villalta and found approximately 110 grams of marijuana hidden under the seat. Investigators conducted a search of 205 Pineview Drive and found an additional 70 grams of marijuana, digital scales, $5,950.00 in US currency, 9mm pistol and packaging material used to repackage marijuana. On June 04, 2009, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested Harvey Lee Parker, 51 years of age, of 1306 Washington Street in Washington. Parker was charged with Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Cocaine within 1000 feet of a Child Care Center and Delivery of a Controlled Substance within 1000 feet of a Child Care Center. Parker’s arrest stemmed from Investigators conducting surveillance and witnessing Parker deliver a quantity of crack cocaine. Parker was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $50,000.00 secured bond. At the time of this arrest, Parker was on federal probation for gun and drug violations. On June 02, 2009, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit
arrested Joshua Davenport, 19 years of age, of 357 Duck Creek Road in
Washington, David Privett, 45 years of age, of 357 Duck Creek Road in
Washington, Joshua Privett, 25 years of age of 357 Duck Creek Road and Norwood
Dixon aka Woody, 49 years of age of Bullfrog Lane in Washington.
They were charged with Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana, Manufacture Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Their arrest stemmed from a Crime Stoppers tip that drug use and sales were occurring at 357 Duck Creek Road in Washington. Investigators responded to the residence and smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the residence. Investigators secured the residence and walked next door to Dixon’s residence on Bullfrog Lane to speak with David Privett. Investigators witnessed marijuana plants growing in Dixon’s yard. Investigators secured Dixon’s residence and received Search Warrants for both residences.Investigatorssearched Dixon’s residence and found three marijuana plants, a plastic bag containing 134 grams of marijuana and assorted drug paraphernalia. Investigatorssearched 357 Duck Creek Road and found 3 marijuana plants, 580 grams of marijuana, digital scales and assorted drug paraphernalia. On June 1, 2009, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a missing person. The report indicated that Glen McCullough Jr., age 34, of Choco Village Road in Chocowinity N.C. had not been seen or heard from since May 30, 2009. The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation and attempted to locate McCullough. On June 4, 2009 at approximately 7:00 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a body discovery on Little Egypt Road in Blounts Creek, N.C. Deputies and Investigators responded to the scene and found the body of a black male consistent with McCullough’s description. Investigator’s processed the crime scene and collected evidence. An autopsy has been scheduled to begin the process of positive identification and cause of death determination. The Sheriff’s Office is conducting interviews of all persons that may have information helpful to the investigation. As part of this process, the Sheriff’s Office is attempting to locate John Lynelle Bryant, age 35, of Highway 33 East in Chocowinity. Bryant is a person of interest in the investigation and has not been charged with a crime as a result of this incident. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of John Lynelle Bryant is asked to call the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office at (252)946-7111. Missing Person Glen McCullough Jr. |

On June 1, 2009, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a missing person. The report indicated that Glen McCullough Jr., age 34, of Choco Village Road in Chocowinity N.C. had not been seen or heard from since May 30, 2009. McCullough is a black male with brown eyes and corn row braids in his hair. He is 6’00” tall and weighs approximately 150 pounds. McCullough was last known to be wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans. On June 01, 2009, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit
arrested Ralph Lee Moore, 56 years of age, of 601 Ball Road in Washington,
Jeffrey Miles, 47 years of age, of 208 Simmons Street in Washington and Anna
Ramirez, 41 years of age, of 6261 Clarks Neck Road in Washington. Moore and
Miles were charged with Possession of
Heroin and Possession of Drug
Paraphernalia. Ramirez was charged
with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Their
arrest stemmed from Investigators receiving a complaint that Moore, Miles and
Ramirez were riding in a blue Chevrolet Mini Van using drugs. Investigators conducted surveillance and
witnessed Ralph Moore use a syringe to inject Heroin while sitting in the front
passenger seat of the van. Investigators
approached the van and immediately detained Moore, Miles and Ramirez. Investigators found a syringe containing
Heroin residue in the van, a paper wax bindle containing Heroin in Miles
cigarette pack and a new syringe hidden in a tampax case in Ramirez’s purse. They were detained
in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $10,000.00 secured bond.

On May 29, 2009, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested Jason Leo Mills, 35 years of age, of 41 Cherry Road Estates in Washington. Mills was charged with Possession of Cocaine. Mills arrest stemmed from Investigators conducting a search of Mills residence. Investigators found approximately one gram of cocaine in Mills pocket. Mills was
detained in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $3,000.00 secured
